I have been teaching for almost a year now and have come across so much yoga snobbery about what is yoga and what isn’t. But, does it really matter? Like really matter? Whether the classes you attend are Hatha, Ashtanga, fast moving/slow moving, Bikram, even naked yoga – who’s to say that they aren’t yoga? Maybe you like to take photos on Instagram, maybe you like to see your progress in certain asanas. To me, as long as you are bringing it back to your practice, it doesn’t matter.
Occasionally, you may not feel like moving around on a rubber (or insert sustainable/recycled material) mat, and that’s totally fine. It really is. You don’t have to practice the asanas daily to be practising yoga. So today I’d like to bring to your attention and ask you, what’s your yoga? What brings you balance and peace? Gardening? Writing? Just sitting? Yoga can be anything you want it to be, anything that allows you to let go, settle the mind and brings you even a little into the present moment.
Put aside the yoga snobbery, roll out your mat or pick up the gardening tools and get practising 🙂
Here’s my yoga for today…
